What Are Prismatic Crystals in Genshin Impact? How to Get & Spend Them
Prismatic Crystals are one of the newer currencies in Genshin Impact’s Miliastra Wonderland, and they work differently from anything else in the system. Unlike Geodes of Replication or Arcane Keystones, Prismatic Crystals are not for pulling cosmetics — they are for supporting the creators who build the Wonderland Stages you play.
Here is everything you need to know about Prismatic Crystals: what they are, how to get them for free, what to spend them on, and why they matter for the Miliastra Wonderland ecosystem.
What Are Prismatic Crystals?
Prismatic Crystals are a 5-star currency in Miliastra Wonderland, introduced in Version Luna IV (Genshin Impact Version 6.3) on January 14, 2026. Their official in-game description reads:
“This crystal shimmers with a mysterious light and can be exchanged for various gift boxes in the Wonderlands.”
In practical terms, Prismatic Crystals are the currency you use to purchase Colorful Surprise Boxes — special reward boxes placed inside Wonderland Stages by their creators (called Craftspeople). Each Colorful Surprise Box has its own contents and conditions set by the creator, and the revenue from these purchases goes directly to supporting the Craftsperson who built the stage.
Think of Prismatic Crystals as a way to tip or support your favorite stage creators while getting bonus content in return.
How to Get Prismatic Crystals for Free
There are currently two free sources of Prismatic Crystals:
1. Mail Claim (150 Crystals)
Starting January 14, 2026, HoYoverse distributed 150 Prismatic Crystals via in-game mail. You have a 30-day claim window from the date the mail was sent. If you have not claimed yours yet, check your in-game mail immediately — once the window closes, they are gone.
2. Starlight Voyage: Departure Event (150 Crystals)
The Starlight Voyage: Departure event (February 9–23, 2026) offers up to 150 Prismatic Crystals through two reward tracks:
Sightseeing Experience milestones:
- 400 Sightseeing Experience = 25 Prismatic Crystals
- 800 Sightseeing Experience = 25 Prismatic Crystals
- 1,200 Sightseeing Experience = 25 Prismatic Crystals
- 1,600 Sightseeing Experience = 25 Prismatic Crystals
Stage completion milestones:
- Complete 4 different Wonderland Stages = 25 Prismatic Crystals
- Complete 8 different Wonderland Stages = 25 Prismatic Crystals
The Sightseeing Experience cap starts at 800 on Day 1 and increases by 400 every two days, up to a maximum of 1,600. To participate, you need to have awakened your Miliastra Wonderland Manekin.
Total free Prismatic Crystals available: approximately 300 (150 from mail + 150 from the event).
How to Get More Prismatic Crystals (Paid)
Beyond the free sources, you can convert Chronal Nexus (the paid premium currency) into Prismatic Crystals at a 1:1 ratio. Chronal Nexus is purchased with real money through the Miliastra Shop. To convert, tap the ”+” icon next to the Prismatic Crystal counter in your inventory.
Chronal Nexus pricing starts at 60 for $0.99 USD and goes up to 6,480 for $99.99 USD, with bonus amounts at higher tiers.
What to Spend Prismatic Crystals On
Prismatic Crystals have one use: purchasing Colorful Surprise Boxes inside Wonderland Stages.
Here is how it works:
- Enter a Wonderland Stage that has Colorful Surprise Boxes set up by its creator.
- Find the Colorful Surprise Box within the stage. Each box has its own price (in Prismatic Crystals), contents, and acquisition conditions determined by the creator.
- Purchase the box with your Prismatic Crystals. The contents vary by stage — they may include cosmetic additions, special items, or other rewards specific to that stage.
- The revenue supports the creator. This is the core purpose of the system: Prismatic Crystal purchases fund the Craftspeople who build Wonderland Stages.
Not every stage has Colorful Surprise Boxes. Creators choose whether to include them and what to put inside. When browsing stages, look for the Surprise Box indicator if you want to spend your crystals.
Important: Prismatic Crystals Can Expire
This is critical to understand: event-sourced Prismatic Crystals are time-limited. Crystals earned from events and mail have an expiration window of approximately 83 days. Once that window closes, unspent crystals vanish.
Crystals converted from Chronal Nexus (paid) are reported to be kept indefinitely, but always read the in-game descriptions carefully for the latest terms.
